ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION AND MEDIATION SERVICES

"Peace is not the absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means". -Ronald Reagan

Why Mediate?

Effective Communication, Preserve Relationships and Successfully Navigate Conflict

Family Mediation
Navigating conflict is not easy, if it were everyone could do so on their own.  Early in our training, we identified that emotions and rational thinking are oppositionally tied to one another.  The higher the emotions, the lower the ability to see things clearly and concisely.  That is why we are here. Middle Branch Mediation will walk you through the emotional process of complicated family dynamics with a goal of reaching the other side to positive healthy communication and preserved new relationships.

We will act as neutral and impartial parties as we meet to achieve your goals. Mediation in not arbitration and the agreement reached is yours. Consider what you want to reach as an optimum result, the end result whether continued conflict or a newly defined supportive relationship is yours.

Mediation Considerations

  • Mediators are impartial and will not be "taking sides" or represent either party as legal counsel. Attorneys may attend, if they are representing clients but are not required to do so.  It is always advisable to seek legal counsel prior to signing any legal documents.
  • Mediation is confidential and not "fact finding" for court purposes. Discussions that take place in mediation cannot be used in further court processes. The purpose of mediation is to reach an outcome that is agreeable to both parties.
  • Mediation allows you to have control over the decisions being made, unlike the court process where a ruling is ordered sometimes with just a snapshot of the situation.  The Court Process is often lengthy and expensive.
  • Mediation can't solve all problems. There are times that the court process will be necessary, if parties cannot reach an agreement. We suggest mediating all that can be agreed upon to lessen the cost and time in the court system.
